When conducting analysis it is important to know the data inclusion & exclusion criteria for each respective metric. In cauldron we are able to inspect light description of each metric, however, some descriptors do not describe the complete nature of data inclusion for computing a certain metric. And for Kibana we have the same issue?
As you said, we provide a light description of each metric and visualization, and a small snippet about the Elasticsearch query performed to generate the metric/visualization.
However, the final metric/visualization shown to the user sometimes needs a post-query processing before rendering it in the page (most of the times because the data is too difficult to calculate via aggregation), and this procedure is not documented in the documentation that you are talking about.
In the case of Kibana, each metric and visualization can be inspected to know exactly how it is generated, using the button “Inspect” in the UI of Kibana. However, only some dashboards comes with some text giving a briefly description.
To solve this, we have created an issue in the GitLab repository of Cauldron, where you will be able to track the progress of this fix.
Thank you so much for the feedback, and do not hesitate asking or reporting anything.
